Piano Lesson 1 - (Intro: The Keyboard & Keys)

Technically, anything with a set of keys on a "board"-like structure-  is a "keyboard". A computer keyboard , a cell phone keypad is also a keyboard. This is why most people refer to the piano as a "keyboard"

There are 12 main keys on the Piano. The keys follow the normal alphabetical order - beginning with A and ending with G. (Earlier pianos began with the "A" key, but  a modern keyboard will always begin with a "C")

Piano Keys come in 2 sets of colors  - Black and White.

The 12 keys are   : A    A #  B     C     C#     D    D #     E     F      F#       G      G#

# stands for "Sharps" - the sharps are are the "black" colored keys.

The 7 white keys are referred to as "flats" .

Knowing the names of the keys is a good way to start !
